BEST AT-HOME BEAUTY ROUTINE TIPS
If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably been stuck at home, getting a little tired of wearing sweats, and looking for ways to spice up your day-to-day. Trying to feel normal when we’re forced to stay at home more during this time can be a major challenge. We wanted to share what our current at-home beauty routine looks like and what products we’re obsessed with at the moment. We’ve absolutely been loving fresh and light makeup that feels like you’re almost wearing nothing (it’s that lightweight!). These simple steps will make you feel and look great for video calls with work, family sessions, virtual happy hours with friends, or even just to treat yourself!
Step 1: Get Glowing
Prep the skin with your favorite moisturizer and eye cream. We are obsessed with the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base that is amazing for plumping and hydrating the skin. Then we apply the best of the best Clé de Peau Beauté Enhancing Eye Contour Cream Supreme which smooths and brightens the undereye area.
Step 2: The Perfect Base
We love the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer because it gives the perfect amount of sheer coverage with an added bonus of SPF. An amazing tip is to mix this moisturizer with a bit of foundation, such as the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation for an extra touch of coverage plus an added glow. We love blending these two with the beautyblender original to make sure there are no harsh lines.
Step 3: Au Revoir Blemishes
An important step we never skip is to cover dark circles and/or blemishes with the Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer Broad Spectrum. It instantly evens out the skin with minimal effort. This product also works great if you just feel like having a no-foundation day and use it for spot concealing.
Step 4: Sun-Kissed
Cream blush for a little flush on the cheeks makes all the difference. The Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Stick instantly adds freshness to any look, foundation or not. You can use your clean fingers to blend or your preferred cream blush brush. We suggest using the Westman Atelier Blender Brush which is perfect for blending anything and everything seamlessly.
Step 5: Brows on Point
Never forget the brows! Having a good brow shape is crucial in framing the face that pulls the whole look together. Our top pick is the Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Long-Wear Brow Pencil that fills in brows quickly and easily.
Step 6: Voluptuous Lashes
We’ve discovered that curling your lashes is a major key to looking awake and ready for the day. Tweezerman Classic Lash Curler works wonders in gently lifting and curling your lashes. If you’re looking for more lash definition or just can’t live without mascara, our two favorites at the moment that lift, lengthen, and volumize are the Tom Ford Badass Mascara and the Chantecaille Longest Lash Faux Cils Mascara.
Step 7: Luscious Lips
The final step…lips! We have been loving tinted lip balms or glosses during this time at home. We have been absolutely loving the Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil Infused Gloss. This comfortable gloss keeps your lips hydrated and gives the most beautiful sheer shine. Our two beloved shades are New Romantic and In the Buff.
Now your look is ready for any at-home activities or just to lay around while looking fabulous, which we definitely approve of too!
Step 8 (optional): Zoom Perfection
If you do join a Zoom call, a useful tip we’ve found is to select the “Touch up my appearance” setting. If you haven’t heard of this, be ready for a game-changer.
To activate this feature, simply go to your Preferences and then click on Video (under General) where you will find this subtle, beautifying filter. All you need to do is check the box. There are also plenty of amazing virtual backgrounds online for a fun look, or if you simply forgot to tidy up around the house. We love the ones from West Elm.
These simple beauty steps can be altered as much as you want to fit your own beauty needs. Maybe you’ll skip the foundation and go straight to concealer, or maybe you’re not a mascara person, or perhaps you want more makeup. Whatever it is, as long as you do what makes you feel the best and most confident, that is exactly what you should be doing. If you were wearing makeup regularly pre-quarantine, staying home does not mean you should stop doing what you love. A beauty routine should be what you make it. Nonetheless, we completely understand if you feel like you don’t necessarily need a routine at this moment, just know your beauty products will always be there for you.
